Our Story
When Alexander Schenck’s family moved from the town of Freiburg in Germany’s Black Forest to Miami, Florida, Alex did what most kids would do – he adapted. One aspect of American culture that challenged Alex, however, was American fast food. His favorite fast food in Germany, a street vendor’s döner (Turkish kebab-inspired and similar to a gyro), was fast, but it was also fresh and tasty.
The Komrades food trailer itself is a one-of-a-kind, up-cycled work of craftsmanship. The distinctive red trailer, a repurposed shipping container, was custom-built by Caged Crow Fabrications in Saint Germain, Wisconsin.
With a focus on sourcing local, ethical and seasonal ingredients, along with skillful preparation, the Komrades team creates “Food For The People”– craft-made street eats featuring world flavors and international influences, that are fresh, fast and affordable.

The Komrades Team is characterized by experience, expertise, comraderie, and a passion for great food. “I am a team person, and I love food. That’s what I have going for me,” says Alexander Schenck, owner and manager of Komrades.
Each member of the Komrades team is fully committed and invested in success, and part of a bigger dream. “What can we do if we all work together?” asks Alex. “Can we make amazing food if that is everyone's goal? Minimize waste, donate leftovers, spread happiness? It’s incredible how many people have contributed so much already. This is not just my trailer.”
